Merry Christmas, Happy Solstice, etc!

Today with the folks and my brother Todd was pretty good. We had a slow start this morning, which gave me time to sleep in a bit since I'm still on Pacific time, a good breakfast, and then did the presents thing. I got a few nice things from my family and relatives and while it is still a bit too much to all take home in a carry-on, at least it isn't too much to easily mail. My grandfather Leroy (well step-grandfather, long story) and Grandma Bubbles (even longer story) were both here today--hence much of the drama and stress. It was nice to spend time visiting with them all none-the-less.

Spent the afternoon doing various things to help with Christmas dinner. Todd left the dinner rolls to me since I did them for [livejournal.com profile] loree's Thanksgiving and felt they turned out pretty well. Dad and Leroy did the turkey--deep fried turkey as has become tradition around here--as well as the stuffing. Todd did some great vegetables and a sweet-potato pie, as well as a cranberry sauce. Post-dinner cleanup went particularly fast with all of us working pretty efficiently to wrap up in less than half an hour.

After wards, my parents, Todd, and I went to see Return of the King (a second time for me). It kept the parents up way past their normal bedtime--usually around 9p or earlier since they live in the country.

All-in-all, a very enjoyable Christmas.

Tomorrow will no doubt be full of excessive drama trying to get Grandma Bubbles back to her assisted living--which she is doing her dead best to get out of despite the fact that she really ought to be looking at a full-on nursing home.
