Bachelor Weekend, Now With Bears

cuddlyeconomist, Professor X, and Rhys spent the last week in Houston, and DrB and the baby get back on Tuesday. They had a great time, and it meant Rhys got some quality time with his brother and mom. It was a little harder to be away from them this trip, mostly because I worry about the boy. No specific reason, just thousands of generation of instinctual urge to protect and nurture one's offspring. Even when I stayed up too late, I kept waking up around 8ish expecting to need to change the baby. We spent a lot of time on the phone this week keeping in touch, but I'm really looking forward to having them back in Seattle.

Kept myself busy at work, and had a reasonably productive one at that. My presentation from Gamefest back in August finally got through the posting process, and I was able to post the sample code. The commute with the VIADOOM wasn't too bad since I could shift my schedule a bit to go in and leave a bit later, although later in the week it was still a bit of a mess.

Tried my hand at a few more Good Eats recipes in the evenings. My attempts at his candy-corn didn't turn out and the caramel popcorn balls were as dense as steel. I did managed to make some really tasty soft pretzels though. I'm just not a candy-maker, but I'm pretty solid at the baking.

Saturday I spent most of the day cleaning house, and then went to the Nerdvana Halloween party for a few hours. Today we played some Arkham Horror--I just picked up the new 'expansion expansion' and it has become something of a tradition to play on Halloween.
