Home sweet home

Made it back to Seattle. On the trip out we stayed on the plane in Vegas, so I never saw the airport and we were stuck on the plane for 45 minutes awaiting the connection. This time I changed planes so I thought it might mean better food. I was wrong. The Vegas airport has crappy food and a bazillion slot machines.
Feh.
It's great to be home.
Got word that mom is doing much better tonight, walked about 100 feet, and is breathing easier with less pain. This morning and yesterday she looked like "hammered sh*t" as my old friend Nate would say, so I'm glad to hear she is doing better. Hopefully that means she will make the step-down unit tomorrow. They took out her various ports (jugular central line and the remains of the Swan-Ganz), leaving only the PIC, thorasic drain tubes, and the Foley catheter. Leaving the PIC in is a good thing because the first few days she got stuck 30 times a day trying to find good veins for blood draws, medicine, and clogged IVs. The PIC avoids that hassle until we leaves the hospital. The Foley will come out in the morning, with the drain tubes probably staying in another day or two.
