Mamma Mia

jeliza and I went to see this movie Saturday evening on our (now back to a more normal schedule weekly) date. Given my own propensity for chick flicks, and a not-so-secret love of cheesy musicals, I enjoyed it overall. If you don't like ABBA, do not see it. Too many of the reviewers I've seen online went to see it despite hating ABBA, which is stupid.

Note to movie reviewers: I didn’t see 8 Mile because I hate rap. I did not go see it and write a negative review about it because it had rap in it. I knew it would because it starred Eminem! Similarly, you should not go see a movie version of an ABBA musical if you hate ABBA!

I could've done with the image of Pierce Brosnan in his Benney-esque outfit during the credits though... Ouch.

The more disturbing part was that we went to see it at the new AMC Southcenter theater. Having just been in Los Angeles/Century City and witnessing the obscene spectacle of the Westfield Mall there, it was terrifying to find the exact same design style in my own city.

I am not mall people.
