SIGGRAPH Day 3 & 4
Aug. 14th, 2008 04:23 pmThe last two days are a hazy mix of half-day classes, papers sessions, and long walks through too much sun for the nearest decent food. Throw in keeping up with work e-mail so I don't have 10,000 unread e-mails next week.
Tuesday night I went to see the PIXAR Studio Night as part of the SIGGRAPH computer animation festival. They showed a hand-generated (not computer) but very good animated short The Man Who Planted Trees (1987) and had a Q/A with the artist, then showed The PIXAR Story documentary.
cuddlyeconomist made it down Wednesday night, and we had dinner together with
danamongden &
juliarandolph who were at SIGGRAPH for just the day. Rather than sit through the Sony Pictureworks Studio Night, we went back to the hotel and watched a DVD of The 40 Year Old Virgin. I hacked the hotel room TV so I could play it on my computer with video and sound on the HDTV.
Tonight we'll be trying to see the LucasArts Studio Night presentation which is supposed to include a showing of Clone Wars. If it sucks, we'll leave. If it rocks, I'll let you all know :>
