Washington Unemployment
Aug. 1st, 2003 11:02 amWow, this state is the state to be laid off in! Texas unemployment max was around $200 a week, you couldn't claim during the weeks you were getting severance pay, and they had no website application or weekly filing two years ago. Right now the max in Washington is $510 a week, and while I don't get paid for the 23 hours of vacation pay I received, the 2 weeks of severance doesn't count against me--which is good because I've got fairly minimal easy-access savings as I have been concentrating on paying off debts for several years.
Thankfully Beep lasted long enough that I don't have to deal with any inter-state work issues (2 years is the magic number and I last worked in Texas in May 2001)
That means I have at least a few months if things take a while, although in this industry getting work closer to Christmas can be difficult as most of them shut down for the holidays or are in crunch on current projects. I wouldn't mind a 'summer vacation' if I had things to keep me busy, but I'd actually rather be working at this juncture in my life...
