Starting Thursday night, I've been down at SeaTac at Norwescon all weekend. I went to work Friday, but it was mostly a morale event and a going-away lunch for two people leaving my group--we are having a bit of an exodus right now with lots of people going to Intel since they are throwing around a lot of money and buzz for Larrabee. Norwes was a bit strange this year. The last few years it's mostly been a chance to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] loree, [livejournal.com profile] datavore, [livejournal.com profile] beaq, [livejournal.com profile] jeliza, [livejournal.com profile] drakemonger, and [livejournal.com profile] rubylou, but JRS decided not to stay the weekend. [livejournal.com profile] jeliza and I did have a date Saturday night at the event, but it was a lot of time hanging out on my own as [livejournal.com profile] loree was busy running a number of panels.

I tried to make a point of gonig to some programming this year. The "game industry" content was again pretty weak (almost exclusively enthusiasts talking about MMOs and Table-top games), but it was fun to run into [livejournal.com profile] daemonwolf attending as a pro for some of them. I really either need to get involved with the programming next year or skip the whole damn event.

I didn't bother getting a pre-reg pass for next year.

Due to some labor problems the hotel is having, the room parties were really limited. As a result, the dance was packed and was a bit much. I did run into [livejournal.com profile] tavalon for my once-every-two-to-three-year sighting and conversation with her.

On the plus side, I did have plenty of time to join in on the Lord of the Rings Online RAID Friday night. Yeah, MMORPG lifestyle!
