Who says video games can be addictive...
Jul. 28th, 2003 09:55 amI've put 29 hours and 6 minutes into Knights of the Old Republic since I purchased it Thursday (actually closer to 30 hours since I reloaded to back up a few times). Very cool game, very well done, compelling storyline. I *think* I'm about 3/4 done with it, but it is hard to say for sure.
Of course, had I had a spouse, g/f, or other semblance of a life I wouldn't have spent quite so much concentrated time in front of my TV this weekend--which would probably be healthier on my eyes at least. I'm not sure whether I consider it a benefit of the single life or not. This is just another expression of my OCD/hyper-focus thing where I want to play this kind of game to completion before I lose interest. I actually don't tend to play computer games much anymore, but when I do it is a very intense few weeks...
I did make it out of the house Sunday to go to brunch with
jeliza,
rubylou,
drakemonger, and their friends from out of town. Good for me to see the sun and be social for a while.
This is my last week of work at Beep... This has been one of the most enjoyable work places I've ever had and I'm really sad to see it go. Hopefully whatever comes next will have its own rewards, but it certainly will never be the same and most likely not anywhere as well run from a business and scheduling perspective if I stay in this screwed-up industry.
The ear thing is still bugging me, so I'm going to have to make a doctor's apt this week. Also have that annoying "maintenance required" light on my car on. Yeah, lots of extra expenses just before I get laid off :/
Despite all this I think I'm in pretty good spirits. We'll see how I am after being unemployed for a month...
Editor's Note: I have an interview Monday with a small developer in Bellevue. Crossing various parts of my anatomy that I'll find work soon.
