Calender Rollover Event

Spent New Year's Eve at
nerdvana, but I was feeling rather tired from having gotten limited (and cold) sleep the past few nights. Saw the NY ball drop, drank some cider to toast the new year, kissed a few girls, and called it a night.
jeliza and I managed a spontaneous date night, which was a pleasant surprise. The first fifteen minutes of 2008 was excellent: my house was warm when I got home.
Slept in this morning. I decided to blow off the last day of the NYEoLF convention. I feel like I got to a nice place with my two characters, and I'm really only still playing Living Greyhawk to do my completeist thing and see my gaming friends. Besides, I made the 40 minute drive plenty of times this weekend already, coming home instead of staying in Tacoma to keep the cat company and not-frozen. Thankfully this year's weather has been cooperative, and the roads were not covered with snow and ice.
With my house more comfortable than a summer on Mars, I did some cleaning and restocked the fridge. I'm thinking of making breakfast for dinner, since I had Chinese food for brunch (well, late lunch truth be told).
2007 was on the whole much like 2005 and 2006. A series of international trips, presentations, lots of e-mail and meetings, daily frustration with the darker aspects of Microsoft culture and inertia. 2008 promises to hold the same. Come June will be my 4th anniversary at Microsoft doing basically the same job (despite multiple reorgs), so I'll seriously be considering my options over the next few months. I've got a major show to pull together for July, and lots of smaller projects and trips before then, so I've got plenty to keep me busy until mid-year. I'll be teaching at DigiPen another semester, although I need to think about taking on more than lab proctoring for the Fall. Lots of other stuff on the TODO list for 2008, including focusing on landscaping for the house.
For now, I'm enjoying the day off.
