A less than warm welcome
Dec. 28th, 2007 12:51 amMade it back to Seattle just fine, with only a little bit of flight delay. On the leg from Minneapolis back to Seattle, I noticed the girl standing a half-dozen people ahead of me on the jetway as someone I keep seeing at various concerts. I didn't really have any good opportunity to talk with her, and I'm not sure what I'd really say, "Hey, I keep seeing you at lesbian concerts. Are you a lesbian?" When I passed them in the seat heading back to the lav, she was sleeping and snuggling with her girlfriend in the seat next to her. Probably more amusing to me than her in any case.
Instead I spent the three hours chatting up a blonde Canadian girl sitting across the aisle from me who lives in Olympia, is a "Certified Hand Therapist", and is not a lesbian.
Koshka is fine if a bit pissy, happier now that she has soft food. Her cat box was nasty, and it's now clean again. Unfortunately, the furnace is on the fritz again. I left it to hold 55 degrees F, and it won't light so the house is at 46 degrees F. They can't fix it until morning. Alas, I've dealt with a cold house before. I've got hot water, lots of blankets, and a cold-weather sleeping bag. Not the welcome home I might have wished for, but it's at least above freezing tonight.
Update: Furnance fixed. Seems like there's some leaking water problem in the chimney that is causing a bit of water to get up into the smoke vent and is gumming up the furnance. It's amazing how much warmer 51 feels than 45.
