Work's been steadily ramping up the past week or two. Have a number of trips coming up in March, lots of things happening, and lots of related stress. I taught my second night at the DigiPen lab this week, which seemed to go well. So far I'm enjoying it.
The weekend was enjoyable. Friday night I hung out at home, did my taxes, and caught up on recorded television. Saturday was gaming in Redmond and then a date with
jeliza. Due to scheduling snaufs,
rubylou's b-day thing didn't happen this evening, but Jane and I did manage a dinner-date. We have been pretty steady at one date every week to ten days the past... wow going on four years. We don't normally manage two date nights back to back more than once every six months or so, so it was a noteworthy event.
Hung out a bit with
rubylou,
drakemonger, and Jane some Saturday night, and again when they brought the kids home tonight. With their schedules, that was also a noteworthy event. Elizabeth decided I was an excellent jungle-gym, and Olivia was ensuring I understand her growing grasp of declarative statements, the use of nouns, possessives, and the color red. On the whole I don't 'get' children, but I suppose if I was less of a control freak I'd enjoy the simple pleasures of it all at least for a little while.
Started getting motivated to work on some projects around the house. I had pushed myself really hard those six weeks after closing on the place, and have been just trying to enjoy it since to avoid both burning out my homeowner desires and my credit rating. I'm getting new shingles and venting installed thanks to the wind storm damage, but it doesn't look like the scheduling will work out until April. I started getting everything together I need for putting down nice vinyl sheet to replace the ugly-ass self-adhesive tile in the bathroom, and eventually the kitchen and utility. Chatted with my neighbor Andrea a bit again as well as she was out trying to round up her run-away little dog. I think I get children only slightly less than I get dogs.
I think I should end my weekend on a good note and get my butt to bed before I start feeling melancholy again. Had some doozy dreams Saturday night and I'd rather not dredge them up before trying to get to sleep. V-Day is defintely a tangle of emotions for me, which only reflects my love life in general. Things are on the whole better than years past, so I'm just trying to accept that and let the rest of the crap pass...
