Christmas Eve

walbournIt's been a busy few days. Yesterday we went to The Cloisters and saw a concert choir doing Latin Christmas songs. I really liked the medieval building and architecture, and while the a cappella singing was cool the concert was a bit long. red_tanya and willful_zephyr are in New York on vacation and are leaving in a day or two, so my brother took me over to their hotel and we visited for an hour or so in the evening.
Today we went to see Avenue Q on Broadway, which is my father's favorite musical show. Cute story riffing on Sesame Street, and while not as twisted as Wonder Showzen it was definitely entertaining. My favorite characters were the "Bad Idea Bears" which were Care Bear look-alikes who suggested terribly bad ideas in the world's cutest voices. "Don't buy a six-pack of beer. Buy a case. In the long run you'll save money." "Go for it! She's wasted!" "You could hang yourself. I found a rope." Wrapped up the evening with a short walk through Times Square. The crowds were too much, but I suppose it counts as an iconic activity on Christmas Eve.
SciFi is playing Starman. I suppose it has some rather Messianic qualities to it.
