Weekend in review
Oct. 29th, 2006 11:29 pmNice weekend overall. Friday night I spent hanging out at home playing Tomb Raider: Legends, which I actually finished up this evening. Saturday I slept in, went to lunch at Alki Cafe, and then headed out to the OLOTEAS Samhain ritual. As usual, a ritual about communing and honoring the beloved dead was intense and emotional for many. For myself, death remains an abstract. The only death that has yet happened even close to me was when my gaming friend Karen passed in a tragic accident a few years back. I know it will strike close to home sooner than later, but it isn't yet as an upsetting concept as it is to many others facing the memory of a lost loved one. Otherwise, a lovely event and a good time hanging out with people I'm still getting to know. Some of the people I had hoped to see there weren't there this month which was disappointing, but I'm definitely glad I went.
Today I had gamers over for the morning/afternoon. The new place is sized more generously for hosting such events, so it went well. Unfortunately
jeliza couldn't make a date a happen this weekend with some medical stuff that came up recently with the family. Looks like she will be able to make the Shawn Colvin concert tomorrow night at the Moore.
Haven't done much other than OLOTEAS for "Halloween". I'll probably hide in my house Tuesday night with the lights off. I never did like the Trick-o-treat thing and I've certainly not decorated the house. Not really been invited to much in the way of Halloween Parties either. Halloween has a bit of the 'ghost of Kim' about it for me, but I can't really work up the energy over those memories anymore. Nine years is a really long time, even for the "King of not letting things go". Next Friday is the TERRA Witches' Ball which I'm considering heading down to. I've not been to a TERRA event in almost a year, so it will be nice to see a few of the Tacoma people I met my first few years in the Pacific Northwest.
Hopefully daylight savings time will make it easier for me to get up on time for work. I've been having trouble getting to sleep before midnight. This morning I got up at 9:30 only to discover it was really 8:30, so I am feeling like going to head at a reasonable hour...
