walbournI've been putting off watching Battlestar Galactica for months. I had 7 episodes on my DVR, and then 3 new ones from Season 3. I've been avoiding it because as good as the show is, it's god damn dark. Depressing, unrentingly, dark. My DVR just flaked out because of a software update failure and they will be giving me a empty new DVR tomorrow. Guess that answers whether or not I'll be watching those episodes after all.
The irony is that the box runs on Microsoft software. Software hacked up by Comcast, but still. Comcast's version of Windows Update ate my TV.
I called Comcast to ask for technical help expecting an offshored call center and terrible service. Instead some perky young woman answered the phone and chatted quite a bit while we waited for the thing to reboot. There was a time I would have gotten all bent out of shape over something stupid like that, but maybe I'm mellowing in my old age. I didn't get all pissy about losing a bunch of stuff on the DVR I was never really going to get around to watching anytime soon, she was pleasant and friendly despite being called after midnight east coast time.
