It's been a busy long-weekend and July & August are heating up to be a blur of a summer.

Friday was the third week in a row I joined [livejournal.com profile] datavore and a random assortment of friends at The Jones. Having a regularly scheduled outing with friends has been quite enjoyable, but it's all been building up to this Friday's big "Marty leaves Amazon" event. Should be interesting given that I also have drinks with a co-worker who is leaving Microsoft before and a date with gamer buddies to see Dead Man's Chest afterwards.

Saturday was mostly hanging out at home putting yet more time into Oblivion. I'm probably 80% done with the entire content of the game and just crossed the 150 hour mark. Probably another 25 hours of play and I'll be done squeezing everything but a few dozen minor quest threads out of it. Saturday eve I met up with [livejournal.com profile] rubylou, [livejournal.com profile] jeliza, and [livejournal.com profile] drakemonger for dinner. I used to see two to three of them weekly at various dinners we used to all attend, but they've had their hands full with the small ones and I just don't get as much time to hang out with them as a group. [livejournal.com profile] jeliza and I had a fine date night afterwards complete with some fine Brit-Com watching, snuggling, and a good night's sleep. Nice.

Sunday was Superman Returns at the Cinerama and lunch with [livejournal.com profile] loree, [livejournal.com profile] beaq, and [livejournal.com profile] datavore. Then I went on my own to see Indigo Girls at the Woodland Park Zoo.

Monday was a light, short day at work with most everyone taking the day off to make it a long weekend. Spent the evening in the fine company of [livejournal.com profile] tara_firma and her friends at the Ste Michelle Winery for the Fiona Apple concert. The venue is beautiful, as was the company, but my one major complaint with Ste Michelle is that people get blind, stumbling, terrifyingly drunk. They buy a bunch of bottles all at once and slam them down without any bartender to say "you know, you are drunk. you are cut off." It's initially amusing, but there is definitely an ugly undercurrent to some of the more belligerent drunks.
"Alcohol intensifies your personality."

"Yeah, but what if you're an asshole?"
Spent the Fourth doing bbq and gaming with my weekly home group out in Duval most of the day, and then I came home and home bodied for the evening. Without a hook-up to a houseboat on Lake Union this year, I wasn't interested in fighting the crowds to sit on my own in a sea of people to watch a bunch of stuff throw itself into the air and blow-up. Even with the 5.1 surround sound "oohs" and "ahhs". Maybe not the approved "support our troops", "love it or leave it", "U.S.A. U.S.A.", "We're number one!" way to celebrate Independence/Insurrection Day, but it was relaxing.

This short week at work is going to be 3-days of non-stop meetings, deadlines, and more meetings. Friday evening is already triple booked, gaming with the mob on Saturday and hopefully [livejournal.com profile] jeliza and I will have our usual date night, and Sunday I have my first day of official house hunting. I got pre-approved for my loan, so now the trick is finding something (a) I like (b) in my price range (c) where I want to live. We'll see how quickly or slowly that comes together. Terrifyingly quickly I suspect.

I need to watch about seven episodes of Battlestar Galactica I've been blowing off in preparation for next week's flurry of new season starters. I've caught-up on Stargate SG-1 and realized I'm bored with Stargate Atlantis despite liking a few of the characters. Heck, I'm only hooked on SG-1 again because of... Claudia Black!

Speaking of which, I should actually wrap up Farscape sometime soon. I loved that show, but too heart-wrenching to watch while depressed and I was depressed for a really long time. I have I think the three final episodes of Season 4 and the mini-series to watch. Of course, after watching seven episodes of Battlestar in the space of a week I probably will be depressed...

Then next week is various evening activities Mon/Tue, a business trip to Montreal Wednesday through Saturday. The following weekend is Summerstar, and then SIGGRRAPH and a weekend in NYC with my brother, and then mid-August is my work group's biggest event of the year, GameFest, before which I have to wrangle 6-12 talks out of various people.

All while house-hunting, and potentially packing/closing/moving...

Phew!
