"If I had to hug one more princess on my vacation, I was going to hurl."

For the third time this month, I'm back in California. This time I'm on vacation. My mother is a nurse and my folks are in Anaheim for the week so she can attend a conference. It happens to be right next to Disneyland--how strange?!--so they asked me to meet them here for a few days to visit. As I don't plan to go back to Texas for Christmas this year--we are meeting up in NYC with Todd instead--I figured why not? It's not that far or pricey, and I've never been to Disneyland.

I'd probably have been a lot more excited to see Disneyland for the 25 year celebration rather than the fiftieth, and there is something deeply strange about being 6' 2" visiting Disneyland for the first time in my late thirties. Only managed 2 hours in the park tonight after my flight and dinner, but it should prove fun. So far my experience is as one would expect: a lot of queuing. Luckily it is not quite peak season, so the lines are shorter but the park was still nuts on a Monday night.

The flight down as a bit rough, and our landing was definitely rough. After a slam of a landing, the announcer said, "In case you hadn't noticed, we've landed in Orange County." It was not the roughest landing I've ever experienced. That was a flight into Phoenix many years ago, and as we deplaned an old lady in front of me asked the pilot looking a bit sheepish as people were deboarding, "Did we land or did we crash?" From stories we heard from the crew on our return flight a week later, the landing had actually damaged the plane's struts.
