The conference is fairly modest in size, mostly focused on MMO game designers, writers, production, and mobile. They have about nine tracks of sessions both days, including a women in games conference.

I've recognized only a few faces so far, and I suspect that most of the technical developers are not in attendance or are waiting until the afternoon/tomorrow. It will be interesting to see who shows at my talk this afternoon. When the Xbox folks contacted my group to send a speaker to AGC, we picked the topic based on limited information. Turns out the XBox talk is very MMO business/production related, the XNA talk is likely to be production oriented, and our talk is very technical. This is the first year I think DirectX has sent any presenters to this event, and it's only in its third year.

The exhibit hall is around 75 exhibitors, with a lot of universities and recruiters in evidence. I suspect there is a strong "breaking into the games industry" draw.

Update: My talk seemed to go well. The only real technical topics being covered at the conference are a day of OpenGL ES stuff for mobile developers, and a few more speciality topics for MMO developers. As a result, not a lot of interesting panels for me to attend. Also, not a lot of Austin developers I know are present.
