Tori Amos Concert
Apr. 23rd, 2005 12:13 am"can you patch my jeans Peggy Ann
just a little stitch to mend the hole
he has torn if you can
maybe I got too set in my ways
he says she reminds him of me
when we first met in those early days
the sexist thing is trust
I wake up to find the pirates have come
tying up along your coast
how I was to know the pirates have come
between Rebecca's
beneath your firmaments
I worshipped
in the Jamaica Inn
in the Jamaica Inn
with the gales my little boat was tossed
how was I to know that you'd sent her
with a lantern to bring me in
"are you positive this is a friend?"
the captain grimaced
"those are cliffs of rock ahead
if I'm not mistaken"
the sexist thing is trust..."
Jamaica Inn
Tori set list was a selection of her more incomprehensible songs with a fair number from Boys for Pele, a couple Under the Pink, and of course her new album The Beekeeper. She even did a few covers by request - Magic Man and Eyes without a Face, and a few rarities like Cool On Your Island. The acoustics at Benaroya Hall suit her much better than the last place she played in Seattle: Key Arena
All in all a good show, if a little weird on the set list. She didn't play some of her classic hits, but then again she probably gets tired of playing the same set all the time so I can't really blame her. Each of her concerts tends to be a little different, and that is not a bad thing.
The other concert-goers were a mix of the 'alterna-/crazy-girls' you'd expect to be Tori fans and a lot of 'young beautiful people'. I was actually surprised by the number of men in attendance, but she is pretty mainstream these days...
