KRI Conference Day 1

"ya ni panimayu pa ruski"
I don't understand Russian
I've managed to successfully invert my sleep schedule. If you are in the Pacific time-zone, just swap "AM" and "PM" to know what time it is in Moscow. God help me when I head back...
Made it through my first full day at the KRI conference. Mostly hung out at the ATI booth--the folks hosting my visit--, wandering the expo floor to take pictures, and in my room to relax and check e-mail. The place is crawling with 'booth babes' and almost all the women in attendance are in heels and dressed to the nines. They are attractive, but damn are they skinny. Eat a frickin' sammich you no-hips/no-ass girl!
Russia has a similar attitude towards intellectual property as that found in much of the east: IP has no value beyond the media that carries it. Software here sells for about $5 per CD, and the game developers expect to get around $7 retail per title sold--unless they can manage a multiple CD title which is more money, and no wonder they aren't keen on DVDs--because if they charged more the pirates would undersell them anyhow.
Near the end of the day, we were treated to some Russian hospitality. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to ferment chili's! "Throw in some honey, then it won't kill you".
Chuck learn's Cyrillic lesson 2: "MACTEP 6AHK" is "MASTER BANK"
