He got in late Thursday, and Friday we took him to see the Star Wars Exhibit. He thought it was cool, and I really liked seeing all the models up close. The Millennium Falcon has fun little details like bumper stickers on it that you can never see in the movies, and Luke's X-Wing was awesome to see--it was one of my favorite toys as a child of the 70s. As with all these things, we were forced to exit through the Gift Store and it took an Act of Congress to not get out of there with Rhys buying yet another Light-saber (I think he has like a half-dozen already)--the boy does like his guns and swords. He settled for a Lego brickmaster set, which we both approved of greatly. Afterward we had lunch at Zeek's Pizza, and then squeeze in a photo session at Picture People before heading to the convention hotel.
It was a fairly low-key event. Dr. B didn't have much in the way of costuming to show off this year, so we both skipped that aspect this year. We did do a number of panels, and Rhys got his required 'jumping-between-beds', 'going to the pool', and 'ordering room service' that he really wants out of any hotel trip. We got some time to hang out with

Saturday afternoon Rhys and Margo hung out a bit doing Easter Egg dying, and I took him to the Arcade (he had never seen Frogger, Joust, Asteroids, or really much of any of the others they had at the convention) then let him go nuts playing Lazertag for a few hours. I also caught the set by Death*Star which was a riot.
It got a bit pear-shaped around 2am Saturday night. Dr B. came down with a stomach virus, and was in pretty sad shape most of the night. Rhys slept through most of it thankfully. By morning he found us both fitfully sleeping on the floor by the bathroom. I ended up having to take him to the airport for his flight home, while a friend took her to the ER to get some IV fluids and anti-nausea medicine. She's prone to dehydration as it is, so 2 hours and 2 liters later she was sent home. Xerxes and Dr. B had a slightly elevated heart-rate at first, but the fluids brought it all back down to normal by the time she left. I packed the hotel room up on my own after getting back from the airport and headed home--the nice people at the hotel gave us a late checkout time which helped a good deal, and meant I didn't have to fight so many people to get a cart or an elevator..
Monday Dr. B was doing better but stayed home to take it easy and try to reboot her GI track. Monday morning I of course came down with the stomach flu as well. Thanks to the pheromone attraction of complementary immune systems, I didn't get hit as hard by it as she did. By this evening, we are both recovered although still a little wary about the eats.
