SIGGRAPH Day 0

Spent the majority of the day at the Digital Content Creation Advisory Board meeting. I think it went pretty well, although we had catering for like 35+ and only had about 16 people in attendance with just under half of those from Microsoft. After dinner we went out to a club in Venice Beach. For some bizarre reason in LA there is a DJ in every club but nobody really dances. The girl's bounce a bit in place, but it took hours of drinking before anyone started dancing.

Played a bit of pool, drank one girly drink and then stuck with Coke, enjoyed the visually stimulating scenery, and talked a bit with a biotech scientist chick in line for the bathroom. Fun all in all, but I think the main upshot is that I need to get out to clubs more back home in Seattle.

SIGGRAPH Day 1

Spent the morning picking up my registration and getting a late breakfast. The afternoon was a course on advanced cloth simulation, catching a few of the animation festival runs, and the paper sessions fast forward (which is basically every one of the 90 something papers presented in a back-to-back series of one minute teasers). There were some really cool papers, particularly related to photography and high dynamic range lighting. Cool stuff. I'll have to make a point to show the digial photography stuff to jeliza.
