Schiavo Redux

I know that in the "New America" we don't let things like 'facts' or 'the truth' get in way of our politics, but I found this little story to be interesting:

Schiavo Autopsy Shows Massive Brain Damage

Um, duh!

My favorite bit in light of all the "oh, after watching this video tape I declare she's not in a vegetative state because it is clear that she is responding to people waving at her!" arm-chair diagnosis:

The autopsy showed that Schiavo's brain had shrunk to about half the normal size for a woman her age and that it bore signs of severe damage.

"This damage was irreversible, and no amount of therapy or treatment would have regenerated the massive loss of neurons," said Pinellas-Pasco County Medical Examiner Dr. Jon Thogmartin, who led the autopsy team. He also said she was blind, because the "vision centers of her brain were dead."

Poor woman. She's been dead for years, but at least now what was left of her is at rest and maybe her family can finally let go and move the fuck on.

I notice that Faux News doesn't have 24-hour coverage of this story. They are probably still trying to figure out how to squeeze more pointless hours out of Michael Jackson.
