Ani Difranco

jeliza and I went to see Ani Difranco last night at the Paramount Theater. The venue was a renovated classic theater and had pretty good acoustics for the concert. She played previously at the Moore Theater which is owned by the same company, but they clearly haven't had the money to fix the Moore up to the same level.

Opening act was a guy playing blues rock with electric guitar that sounded a lot like Ani's style, but his set-list was, well... rather repetitive and droning. Normally opening acts get the crowd going for the artist, but this one was in danger of putting us to sleep. The guy would probably do really well at a jazz club though, with lots of smoky air and leggy blondes sitting about.

Ani's set included a song from Evolve, a number of songs from her latest Educated Guess, and a lot of yet-to-be released songs. I'm really looking forward to her next album. Her encore included Little Plastic Castles and one of my favs from Living In Clip: Overlap.

I'm sure kerri_tgrl was somewhere at the concert. I've seen her at every Ani concert I've been to... The venue was multiple levels so I'm not totally surprised to have missed her.
