Travel on the Holidays

My flight from San Antonio to DFW was full but on-time. The Seattle leg of my journey is showing as being on-time, but it is going to be extremely full--I couldn't get a seat assignment until I checked in this morning and then I was stuck with a middle seat. DFW Airport is crowded as hell, and I hear the buzz of various delayed flights all about me.
A few observations: The San Antonio airport doesn't show CNN, they show that purveyor of 'comfortable reinforcement for white Christian Republian news' Fox. Shrub is on the cover of Time as "Man of the Year"--they've had a chimp on the cover before so I guess that isn't a precident. Some young man was sitting in the waiting area was reading the Bible. Americas are so good at denial it is easy to forget we are actually a nation at war; it is more obvious when you see all the military folks wandering around for flights to/from Iraq. In fact, one of our guests for Christmas was a co-worker of my mom's who is being shipped to Iraq in January.
The trip to Texas was fun and relaxing. It was great to see family and old friends. Still, I'm happy to be headed home. And "home" is defintely not Texas anymore.
