Borrowed a friend's Gamecube to play Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, a creepy Cthulu-esque game. Gotta love a game with a 'sanity bar'. When you are low on sanity, you start hallucinating: the room you enter is upside down, your head explodes and your arms fall off only to have the screen fade to white and you find yourself back in the room you started, you see blood dripping on paintings, hear knocking on doors and creepy baby screams, bugs crawl on the screen. Damn creepy. Hopefully it won't give me nightmares.

Most of my co-workers probably spent the evening playing Half Life 2 since we got a bunch of box-copies in today for our group's all-hands meeting. I think my home computer isn't even up to the minimum spec, which is usually a fiction anyhow. No biggie. Never played the first one either, although the demos I've seen are pretty damn impressive. Must be nice to have a nearly unlimited budget for developing a PC engine technology. Valve is clearly planning to make up their stupendous investment via licensing it to everyone and their neighbor's dog like Id did with the Doom/Quake engines. No PC game--no matter how wildly successful--could possibly make back that kinda bank on its own.
