I watched Lost In Translation for a second time tonight. The sense of being lost in a strange culture was definitely there for me when I went to Korea, and thanks to the job at Microsoft I will likely get to see Tokyo sometime in the coming year. But beyond the obvious, I think the reason this film is so moving is the sense of uncertainly the main characters portray. They are lost in life, unsure of the path ahead and the choices they've made, and convey a sense of longing for the chance to change something, anything. An emotional place I relate to strongly.
