Kid in a candy store...
Aug. 31st, 2004 10:53 amWhile most of my team is out, I was asked to drop some drives into the group's private servers since we are low on space. Last night I cracked them open to discover that I need some mounting h/w for one of them. I looked through some offices without success, sent off an e-mail--which has yet to be replied to since my boss is off my schedule by 8 hours and has limited Internet access--, and called it a day.
Today I mention my need to one of the DX team manager fellows, who took great glee is showing me the magic room in Building 10 where all the cool stuff is horded: The ITG Labstore. Cables, power supplies, mounting kits, you name it in neat little bins. All it took was asking the ITG Store gnome for what I needed along with my alias, and presto... h/w in hand.
Makes me wonder how many other secret caches of technology are sitting around the MS campus...
