Feb. 2nd, 2004 11:37 amHad a relaxing weekend. Went to dinner at La Louisiana and then saw Big Fish with
loree Friday. With her work schedule--not to mention she is dating three people these days--, we haven't really hung out in some time. Good company as usual, and a good movie.
Saturday was a Portals of Midwrathe game at my place, which ran for 12+ hours. Fun and social for the most part, although the ending was fairly frustrating due to everyone's fatigue and the desire to wrap it up. We had a good dinner mid-evening at Maple Leaf, and it was a good way to spend the day. After a year and a half of play, I made 4th last night, which makes me the second character in the campaign to do so (to my knowledge).
Koshka was very social all day, coming in to hang out with the gamers and sit in a lot of laps. I need to take her back into the vet soon to see if she does indeed have a heart murmur and if anything can be done about it...
Sunday I slept in very late since I got to bed past 3am. I'm not sure if it was the Tim Burton film, a week of feeling isolated and a bit frustrated with
jeliza being out-of-pocket for the near term, gaming all damn day, or staying up too late but my dreams were whacky, disturbing, a bit sexual, and very surreal. I drug myself out of bed after noon, then went for a quick breakfast at Alki Cafe, and then spent some time walking Alki Beach. Spent Sunday evening finishing up more of the recorded eps of stuff and called it a night.
Considering my utter hatred of televised sports (with the exception of tennis and women's nine ball), I'm glad that I managed to totally miss the Stuperbowl and all associated silliness--except some frat boy on Alki holding a giant football balloon. One has to live in Texas to truly hate football fans, and I lived in Texas for 25 years. I heard about the "half-time show controversy" because of LJ and the fact that it is somehow newsworthy enough for CNN to blab on about it. It is moments like these that I'm reminded I live in a prudish third-world nation.
Looks like another quiet week. We are having another PoM game tonight--we have a weekly game on Monday's--at my place and dinner plans for Tuesday, and that's about it so I need to find things to do to fill the rest of my week.
I'm going to RadCon the weekend after next, and Gamestorm is coming up first weekend in March. I was going to attend the RPGA's Winter Fantasy convention this last weekend, but decided against it after reviewing the flight time and cost. From the reports I'm getting from friends and the fact that most of the games will be running at Gamestorm, I think I made the right choice. There is also some kind of quarterly gaming convention starting up here in Seattle the 4th weekend of Feb.
