Well Thanksgiving this year was quite pleasant, albeit low-key. Spent most of the day baking, cleaning house, and generally hanging out. Went over to [livejournal.com profile] loree and [livejournal.com profile] datavore's house in the early evening to enjoy an excellent turkey dinner thanks to [livejournal.com profile] loree's hard work. The pies and rolls went over well and it was a very enjoyable meal with good company.

Afterwards I dropped by [livejournal.com profile] jeliza, [livejournal.com profile] drakemonger, and [livejournal.com profile] rubylou's place to foist the remainder of the pie off on them--following my general philosophy of not keeping lots of easy-to-consume calories sitting around my house--and visited with them a short while before heading home for the night.

Last year I pretty much avoided the whole Thanksgiving thing. I went back to Texas for a gaming convention (Itzacon) and did my best to not even think about the holiday as anything more than a 4-day weekend. I considered going again this year, but between them offering the modules I played during my August Texas trip and being so close to GenCon SoCal I decided against it.

There is still so much about my life that isn't what I might want, or at least doesn't seem like it is heading towards a life of security, lasting returned love, and partnership. Yet, the experience of living this way isn't quite so uncomfortable as it once was. That's certainly something to be thankful for.
