Spent a lot of my free time this weekend playing RPGs during the day Saturday & Sunday, but also went it to the Indigo Girls concert with [livejournal.com profile] jeliza Saturday evening and visited with [livejournal.com profile] rubylou and [livejournal.com profile] jeliza Sunday evening at the tail end of their 'open house'--[livejournal.com profile] drakemonger had already headed out on a business trip by the time I got there.

The Indigo Girls were good as always, played most of their classics and some new stuff as well. Michelle Malone opened for them and joined in on a number of their songs. IG has a new album coming out in Jan/Feb, and from the sound of the new songs and the general selection of old stuff they played it is one of their more 'up' albums. Their most recent album, Become You, has a lot of melancholy, which is probably why I like it so much. We had balcony tickets, so we weren't down in the stage-crowding group of IG fans--many of whom apparently had been there for Friday night's show as well--, but we had a good view of the stage and some of the side-stage activity.

This was the first time I had heard Michelle Malone, and while she demonstrated a great range and excellent guitar technique I thought her lyrics were a bit too simplistic for my tastes. [livejournal.com profile] jeliza said the last time she saw the IG many years ago, Michelle was opening for them. She did some cool covers and had a very southern sound since she is from Atlanta--the IGs are from Athens, GA so they probably have a lot of shared history between them.

All-in-all, a very enjoyable weekend. I have been feeling pretty groggy and stiff in the mornings today and yesterday despite getting plenty of sleep and some minor congestion, so I'm probably coming down with whatever cold is making the rounds. Hopefully it won't take hold and I can avoiding having to figure out how sick-hours work at Sierra...

Not a lot of stuff going on this week other than work. Probably run a Living Force judge's game Tuesday for some people who were busy at Saturday's gameday, and will help with a Virtual Seattle gameday this coming Saturday. Not sure what I'm doing with the weekend otherwise. I believe [livejournal.com profile] eogan is having a birthday party Saturday night I'd love to attend, but there is also Orycon 25 down in Portland. Decisions, decisions.
