Seoul Again
Nov. 11th, 2008 04:29 pmI'm on my way back to Seoul for the sixth time to speak at the 2008 Korea Game Conference. I'm currently sitting in the Narita airport business class lounge for NWA as I was unable to book direct flights on Asiana for a reasonable price. Asiana is definitely my preferred airline for this trip, and as a result of the connection I'll be traveling like 15 hours instead of 10. So I have an hour layover here, then a few hours to flight to ICN, then at least an hour bus ride to the hotel--traffic is Seoul is teh suck even late at night.
cuddlyeconomist and I had a great visit over the weekend. I got the "secret project" done, which was to revamp my utility room. I demo'd out the crap built-in shelving back there, sanded & repainted the wall, patched the sheet vinyl flooring, and then put in some Ikea items: a wardrobe, a 12-drawer counter storage unit, and two wall cabinets. I also got a nice Japanese-style screen to hide the furnace and hot water heater which gives the place a much less 'industrial' feel. It is still the 'mud / laundry' room, but it feels more like an extension of the kitchen. I'll put up some pictures of the result at some point. We also did some yard work, mostly getting up the season's first major piles of leaves.
Went to
loree and
tithonium's party on Saturday, although didn't stay really long. It was great to get a chance to visit with
drakemonger and
jeliza as well as others while there.
Update: On the other hand, even the ramen at the airport is loads better than anything I can get in the States :> I made it to my hotel in Seoul. Internet, shower, and bed in short order I think.
