I've been wanting to start on my big backyard project for months, but various other concerns have taken my attention, in addition to a fair amount of sick & tired time. The first step in the project is actually to get the shed cleared out so I can reclaim that concrete pad for other purposes, and that means getting the garage in a more useful shape.

Yesterday I got all the household hazardous wastes from the previous tenants of this house to the transfer station for disposal. I have been drying out partial buckets of old paint for a few weeks, and thankfully City of Seattle customers can still take full latex buckets to them to deal with. I also borrowed [livejournal.com profile] tithonium's van/SUV/Element/thingy and took all the scrap metal from tearing down the front chain link, old door hardware, and a few other items to the recyclers. Today I demo'd all the old cabinets and poor-man's shelving, and I scheduled the 1-800-Got-Junk people to haul away the debris tomorrow.

Earlier this week I went to Garage Solutions and got them started on a design. Hopefully they can get in to do it in the next week or two. The garage is pretty much empty and ready for them, although I plan to repaint the walls before they come install the cabinets/shelves. Then I want to install some new work lighting, which should be pretty simple and well within my personal electricial-wiring skill set, and the garage will be ready for all the shed stuff.
