walbournPirates of the Caribbean
This movie rocked. The plot is too thin to have any holes in it. Never mind that Aztecs wouldn't have metal imprinting technology to make coins. Never mind that Orlando Bloom's outfits span 100s of years into the future. Never mind that the one girl pirate is a model. Never mind that the way to remove the curse is completely arbitrary. Never mind that a certain 'zombie pirate' should have had significantly more flesh on them given the timescale. Never mind the ending is trite and predictable. Never mind that the previews for Haunted Mansion make it clear that Disney plans to visit us with a plague of theme-park-ride inspired trash.
Never mind all that... Johnny Depp makes every scene of this movie a delight. Throw in awesome special effects and lots of shit blowing up and you have the best summer movie ever.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
This movie has style to spare. Besides, how many steam-punk films have ever been made? Wild Wild West was a comedy. This effects are cool, the characters are whacky and fun, and the action is right out of a Jules Verne novel. Fun movie with cool soundtrack to boot. The ending is a little too obvious setup for a sequel, but who cares! Bring on the vampire chick in cool goth outfits!
