Grrr.

Just spent a very frustrating 4 hours trying to get some new wiring run in my house. After bumping around in my attic for most of that time, many minor abrasions, probably giving myself black-lung disease from all the dust, and cutting two holes in my wall, I gave up for the day. My house has been rewired at some point recently, but I'm beginning to wonder if it was done just before putting up fresh dry-wall. None of the wire drops I found actually go through to the base of the wall despite being the exact same holes where other wires are running. I tried to use an extra one to pull my wires through, and it broke after jamming up on something in the wall.

Not a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Educational, but not in an entirely good way.

Update: Looks like hitting blocking braces is not all that uncommon. It will require cutting another hole in the dry-wall to fish it through the blockage and then repatch/repaint the dry-wall. Some other weekend, cause all the back & forth was pretty tiring (fishing wires on one's own makes for much walking/crawling).

On the up side, I'm less freaked out by the attic. I think I'm not going to be doing my own insulation work though, because it's pretty nasty up there.
