Had a good date Friday night with [livejournal.com profile] jeliza. We went to see Melissa Ferrick in concert. She's got a new album coming out, and she was great live as always. Overall she seemed saner than I'd see her at previous shows. The energy she had on stage the first few times I saw her perform was amazing, but clearly driven in large part by major levels of crazy. This time she just seemed more comfortable. Gotta love a singer-songwriter who describes herself as "the f***ed up love girl".

Saturday morning I ran a Living Force game, which combined with my cold is why my voice was dead by the time my party started that night. Did some shopping before coming home to prep stuff for the party. Ended up sleeping sitting up to try to ensure I don't end up with bronchitis ever again with the magic aid of Nyquil.

Today I went to brunch at Alki Cafe--a place I frequent enough that the fact that I can barely speak did not inhibit my ability to order exactly what I wanted. Otherwise I've spent the day on the couch watching TV. Hopefully I'll get my voice back soon. It's the first day in a long time I've just sat around the house by myself. It's actually made me a bit moody in combination with the overcast day, but I suppose being sick doesn't really help either. The housework to date had been rather absorbing, which has been good for keeping me busy but not so good on the social front. I definitely need to get out more as the darker days of winter return.

I may yet get a trip back to Austin this year. Didn't get the okay in time to submit a talk for the Austin Game Conference, and my family is meeting up in NYC this year instead of our usual rendezvous in south Texas. Looks like we'll be making some business trip down to Austin soon, and I'm absolutely volunteering to go.
