I would be lying to say this is a great movie. It is, however, a highly entertaining film if you are willing to give it the benefit of being a Hong Kong action film imported into the states. The best way to approach it is to treat it like I do most Animae/foreign films: "I'm sure this makes more sense in the original Japanese/Mandarin/etc."

The script is a mess. The acting is bizarrely cut. The visual style is something akin to Aeon Flux meets Sin City. It is a comic book rendered as a violent, sexy, cinematic music video.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Anytime you begin to drift into thinking the dialogue doesn't parse, the plot seems unbelievable, or question the linking of scenes, just remind yourself: 1. Milla looks hot. 2. Outfits that change color with the surroundings would be sweet. 3. Extra-dimensional storage in bracelets for nearly unlimited supplies of weapons and ammunition is cool and convenient. Repeat.

It's worth a matinee at any rate, assuming you like Hong Kong action films.
