One of the DVDs I got last night was Dirty Pretty Things. From the reviews, I was a bit worried that it would be painful to watch and a real downer, but it turned out to be a awesome movie. I really like Audrey Tautou, and while this has a very different feel that Amilie or A Very Long Engagement, it was well done.

The characters in the film are 'servants', working the lowest class jobs in modern London--some were illegal immigrants trying to survive. I found it ironic that I was spending my day doing 'domestics' work myself, including laundry and even hand-washing some things. I think it's a good thing to do the work for yourself. Nobody should be 'above' cleaning up after themselves--a skill which people should start developing when they are in kindergarten. Besides, it gives me better appreciation for the technology involved in a washer/dryer -and- discourages me from buying more f'ing high-maintence clothes.
