Jan. 22nd, 2005 12:58 pmAs expected, spent most of the week doing GDC prep and attending meetings. The larger division is on crunch, the DirectX team is getting really close to releasing another SDK update, and various others are getting a lot of pressure early in the new year. Should be an interesting year for Microsoft in the Windows division.
It is also my first 'mid-year review' period, so I'm a bit lost as to what it is exactly I'm supposed to be doing about it. With me being out for Winter Fantasy most of next week, it might be a little while before I can talk to my boss about what exactly it is I'm supposed to do.
Anyhow, had a number of home games this week. As usual they always seem to get scheduled all in a burst, usually right up against a big con. Fun, but I'm definitely taking a break this weekend to spend it vegging and doing errands.
I never got around to posting about Koshka's vet visit. She went in all day Wednesday for an ultrasound and cardiology consulting, and she was diagnosed with mild hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Basically her left ventricle heart muscle has thickened a bit, which gave rise to the murmur. The end result is that she doesn't need maintenance meds, she's doing pretty well and it isn't hurting her, but I need to take her in about every six months instead of annually to keep a closer eye on her health. In about a year and a half she'll need another cardio consultation. There are some limitations on anesthesia and fluid therapy, but since she is an indoor cat she isn't likely to get into a fight and need treatment for an abscess or other injury.
I'm relieved that the quality-of-life situation for both her and I will remain high without having to try to pill her every day. With my travel job, that would also prove to be very difficult to keep as regular as she would need. All in all, pretty good news considering the situation.
My only complaint is that the vet continues to insist on putting an e at the end of Walbourn. Grrr. "pet peeve" :>
Anyhow, off to brunch with
loree and
datavore...
PS: Happy Birthday,
jeliza!
