Two weekends back, I spent most of my time playing the new Lord of the Rings Online expansion while DrB and Professor X were off in Houston meeting family and spending time with the Rhys. They had a great trip, and returned safely after a long weekend. Work is steady progress on some big projects, and generally going pretty well. [livejournal.com profile] cuddlyeconomist checked out the GirlGeekCon over this past weekend, and we played a new boardgame with some friends, Descent, which is a little more 'crunchy' than the D&D boardgames--4E is already pretty much a board-game, but anyhow...

In the long, messy POST of childhood, Professor X has started the 'teething' and 'drool' stages a little early. Poor boy. He's had some rough evenings on and off the past few weeks, but overall he is doing well, smiling a lot, and holding up his head pretty well. He's not quite to rolling over, but there's plenty of time for that. With DrB having started school again this quarter, I'm working from home two days a week in the mornings and keeping him all on my own. The first day was really rough, partly because he was still on Texas time and partly because he hadn't been fed from a bottle for a few weeks. The second time was a bit easier, but still a little rough. Today actually went pretty smoothly.

Yard is doing well, and I mowed it last weekend for the first time in several months--we don't get much rain here over the summer, and local grass can't go without water for more than a few days without turning brown. The fall has returned with a vengance, and we've had plenty of wind and rain the past week or two. We are getting an arborist to do some maintenance on the trees. The one out front snapped in a recent storm, and the poor japanese maple that was planted with the new landscape on the far side of the garage has some kind of fungal blight. The tree in the back (actually in the neighbor's yard) that split a few years back they said was actually doing really well--they were the ones who tended it back then. Ah, the joys of home ownership.
