It's been a crazy two weeks, and I feel like I need a vacation from my holiday, but it's been a good one. It was great to see a lot of family this year, and it was nice to see my mom up and about given the scares earlier in the year. The back & forth between San Antonio and Houston twice wasn't a big deal, and allowed us to see all the various friends and relations over the holidays. Several rounds of turkey dinners, and the usual string of Tex-Mex favorites rounded out the trip. That said, I believe we are pushing for Christmas in Seattle next year so we can skip the travel altogether.

New Year's was good, and we spent some time over at [livejournal.com profile] nerdvana for their party after having a family dinner at home. New Year's Day we had some folks over for brunch as the start of a new holiday tradition. After a few days we managed to get all the various Christmas loot settled in, and the vast majority of it all made it safely despite wrangling a ridiculous amount of luggage for a week.

Rhys seemed to have a good time overall. For some reason he got fixed in his head that a New Year's resolution was only binding if you held your right hand up when you stated it, like it was an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States or something. The boy does like his technicalities and rules-lawyering, but that one just seemed weird to me. We introduced him to Mystery Science Theater 3000, which provided a huge success. Remember, Leonard Maltin believes that at 2 1/2 stars, "Indiana and the Last Crusade": no better than "Laserblast".

Back to work for both of us tomorrow, and [livejournal.com profile] cuddlyeconomist also goes back to school. I won't be doing DigiPen this semester due to budget constraints, but the next few months at work will already be a handful so that's probably just as well.
