The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
May. 19th, 2008 10:18 pmWent to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian after work today. I really enjoyed the first one, and the second was great as well. Susan was indeed rockin, and Edmund had some great lines as well. Lucy and Peter had their moments, and the combat scenes were all excellent. As an added bonus one of the songs on the soundtrack is performed by Regina Spektor!
As with all Disney films, the violence is essential to the story, but they make it all bloodless to keep it "kid friendly". Personally I'm a bit bothered by it because it seems like it makes violence seem 'clean' when it really, really isn't. None-the-less I was happy to see Susan let loose the bow a number of times with purpose and meaning instead of the kinda pansiness of the first film where she just wings a dwarf after having drawn it a half-dozen times without following through. Great scenery, good story, and a nice homeage to the Ents. Clearly both Lewis and Tolkien loved the idea of fighting trees.
