Mar. 30th, 2008 12:26 amIt's been a wierd week. Firstly, it was snowing. Snowing when it's almost April! That's just crazy. Now granted it was only barely snow and melted as soon as it hit anything, but that's still crazy cold for this time of year. We usually get a false spring here that's a week or two of sunny followed by a month of rain, but snow!?!?
My former manager at Microsoft is leaving the company after a decade of being a Softie, and his last day was Friday. There's actually been quite a few people leaving the company, and of my original group when I got hired in back in 2004, half of them have left the company. Many have gone to work for Intel as they've decided to get serious about gaming graphics technology instead of just pushing that integrated graphics damage on everyone. Interesting times indeed.
While there are still some major on-going structural problems with my workgroup, my division, and frankly the whole company, I'm still pretty happy with my little area of influence and feel like I've got something to contribute. My working relationship with the new management chain and my new boss seems to be going well, and hopefully come review cycle in the summer the results will be positive. If not, time to find a new job.
I've not really been posting much the past few months. I've been spending a lot of my free time playing Lord of the Rings Online, chatting online with
cuddlyeconomist, and vegging out after work.
jeliza and I haven't really managed a proper date in a few weeks with the scheduling, and her and the family being sick.
This weekend I'm at Gamestorm down in Portland for part of the weekend. It's the last year I'll be doing RPGA play, so I've been going to the usual conventions to play Living Greyhawk. However, I'm not particularly driven about it. I got on the road late today, so I didn't even play anything today. I was hoping to have dinner with
royalbananafish, but she wasn't available today. Maybe tomorrow. I'll at least play in the morning slot so I can get one game in for the convention pre registration fee :>
Oh, I did hear from someone finally about the Taft HS 20th Year Reunion, or at least a call for contact to get more information. They are planning something in September, which is good cause my summer is already booked!
