The travel day yesterday was a day of suck. My flight was at 7am and routed through Minneapolis (the true cost of getting a miles ticket from Northwest Airlines). Thus I was up at 4:45am after not really getting much sleep. I did manage to get into bed about 10pm the night before, but I don't sleep well when I go to bed early and have to get up early. Once we were on the flight and pushed away from the gate, the second engine wouldn't start. So we got towed back to the gate and had to wait for it to be fixed. We were originally going to be an hour early thanks to a good jet stream, and instead we were 45 minutes late. Unlike many people on the plane, my connection wasn't booked stupid close so it didn't hurt me too much.

Second flight was delayed waiting for the equipment to arrive (late previous flight). Then they announced a problem with the "captain's window" that needed fixing. We still got boarded and I guess they patched it up quickly cuz we were only about 30 minutes heading out. Again, a favorable jet stream meant we were in close to the originally scheduled time.

Mom picked me up at the airport, and we headed to Ding How for dinner. I tried going there back when I was in Texas for CMA, and was denied due to renovations. It was as good as always, although I realized that we have been eating at the place for 25 or so years. I took my first date ever there. Supposed it was time for a renovation after all. Sign me up for one too.

Didn't do much last night except struggle to stay awake until 10pm local time. It felt a lot like a trip to Asia.

Got up and had lunch at Blanco Cafe (speaking of eating at the same place for 25 years). Still the most amazing meal, and still less than $10 including drink. And by drink I mean iced tea served in a 60+ ounce container with lots of ice and lots of refills!
