"Balls of Fury"

To really enjoy this movie, it is important to meet a few prerequisites:

• Have seen Enter the Dragon
• Hopefully you've seen and liked the "Fist Full of Yen" spoof of it in The Kentucky Fried Movie
• Enjoy the music of Def Leppard (whether or not you'd admit it)

Given those things, you'll find it quite amusing. Otherwise you probably just won't get it.

Off to Tokyo

I'm headed to Japan tomorrow afternoon. I spent about 4 years there as a child, but I really don't recall anything more than impressions and reconstructed images from family photos. I managed about an hour in Narita City on a lay-over heading back from South Korea, but this will be my first real trip back as an adult. The good news is that from Seattle, the flight is actually not bad--given that my standards of 'long flight' have been set by a trip to Moscow and another to London from here. The weather looks like it will be hot and muggy with lots of thunderstorms. The flight back from Japan might be a bit bumpy.

I don't really know what to expect. Perhaps I should watch Lost In Translation again, although I won't expect to run into Scarlett Johansson in my hotel, or Bill Murray for that matter. Sadly. Maybe with all that rain, it will be more like Blade Runner. Whatever as long as Godzilla doesn't show up.
