SIGGRAPH Day 1
Aug. 5th, 2007 01:12 pmSo far, so good. I made it in plenty of time to my course this morning, and got through the introduction and the first 45 minute presentation. My morning presenters did a good job, and I've actually seen all five of my afternoon speakers onsite. I've got one more 45 minute block of speaking later this afternoon to get through, and by 5:30 it will be done.
Attendance is decent, but not the largest audiences I've dealt with. About 165 people were in the morning sessions. We'll see if the afternoon talk about Crysis fills up the room more with all the fanboys. About a dozen people out of the 165 identified themselves as game developers, which pretty much fits what we expect for SIGGRAPH. Great for broading our message outside the narrow focus of games and supporting the Direct3D team in the Windows division in their evangelism efforts, but not something my larger organization gives a rat's ass about.
I do have a nifty "Speaker" and "Courses Contributor" ribbon for my trouble, and didn't have to fight the silly budget micromanagent battle to get sent to the event since I was speaking.
