Those crazy lobbyists

Apparently the car industry lobbyists trying to kill the CAFE standards billl this week were arguing that improving mileage would just "encourage people to drive more".

Um, WTF?

Maybe people wouldn't drive so much if there were any options in U.S. cities, but the same people have been squelching that effort for years.

Still, you have to admit they have some serious balls for saying something like that with a straight face.
