Out and about in the English countryside
Mar. 16th, 2007 06:48 amYesterday was a 200 £ day of trains, cabs, and subways. We started the day in London, had two meetings each an hour apart, and then had to get back to Reading for today's Gamefest Unplugged event. Hours of travel, hours of meetings, and crappy food made for a very, very long day.
My morning talk seemed to go ok, and after I give it again this afternoon I'm basically free for the rest of the weekend. While I had considered doing some excursion or another, after Thursday's train-o-rama, I'm not so thrilled with the idea of taking a 2 hour train/bus to Glastonbury. Neato freaky new-agy paganism good. Lots more time on conveyances not so good. As it turns out there's a major St. Patrick's Day celebration happening in London, and I've got a few museums and the like to check out including seeing the Difference Engine No. 2 on display at the science museum. It would have been fun to go to Ireland, but accommodations would've required a lot more notice and getting there isn't all that easy without taking a flight.
