Due to a combination of jet-lag, insomnia, the fact that downtown Boston rolls up the side-walks at 9pm, and a limited number of entertainment choices I ended up watching a bit too much of the movie Catwoman.
Sad. So sad. The costuming kinda sucked, the plot was dorky, and they spent like $10 on the CG effects (they have to at least try to make it look plausible given SOTA 2004). The actual fight choreography was fun, and in the very few scenes that allowed someone to actually act, Halle did a pretty good job. Her catwoman couldn't sustain the sexy/scary split-personality bat-sh*t crazy that Michelle Pfeiffer managed, which frankly is the essence of the character, but she did manage a bit of it when allowed by the hack writing (it's not a good sign that it has five people given writing credits).
Making a film that sucked this much with Halle Berry and Sharon Stone took some real effort. What a waste of a great complex character that embodies dualities in feminism, animalistic sexual power, and the anti-hero. Why they can't manage to make a female comic book hero movie that doesn't suck is beyond me given the success of movies like Spiderman.
At least I wasn't watching the hyping of a 58 year old conflict as the "start of WWIII!!!!!iiiiiii!!!!" or stuck with French-speaking chat shows.
