May. 29th, 2005 10:46 pmSpent all day yesterday and today attending Cloud City. I had originally planned to only day-trip Saturday, but due to some scheduling issues I ended up going both days. I went looking for a hotel around 11:30pm Saturday night in Vancouver B.C. but after checking the hotels around the airport, Richmond, Delta, and Surrey, I ended up crossing back over the border to find a hotel by around 1:30am.
Everything was just full.
For reasons which are a bit strange to me, apparently Americans in the Pacific Northwest like to celebrate Memorial Day weekend--a holiday ostensibly about remembering the people who died in American wars--by going to Canada, shopping (most likely buying goods imported from China), and filling up hotels there.
In any case, I had a good time. Having to wait 40 minutes at the Peace Arch crossing two days in a row kinda sucked, but thankfully I had a lot of audio book tapes to listen to and pass the time in my car.
