Beverly Hills!?

Made it to California just fine. Staying in a small, and perhaps too swank, hotel in Beverly Hills.

Of course getting here was an exercise in frustration. Alaska Airlines decided to arbitrarily cancel our flight and book us on the 6:30p flight without sending us any notification. Since our original flight was scheduled at 7:45pm and traffic is non-trivial around 5pm, we of course showed up in time to discover our flight was already gone. So, we got rebooked on the 8:00pm flight, which was packed like a sardine can and itself left an hour late. Apparently they had been doing this to several flights that night, 'cause lots of people were grumpy.

Anyhow, won't be in BH that long so I don't really expect to get much out of my stay in the swankiness. Gotta get to bed and be up at 7:30am, meeting at 10p, presentatoins 12:30-2:30, then a flight out at 7:55p.

Home again.

Made it back from California after our meetings. We actually choose to go on an earlier flight home this time--rather than getting bumped.

Clear indication that I'm traveling a bit too much these days: I converted 26,000 South Korean Won in my wallet from my trip last week to 24^* dollars Canadian in, of all places, the LAX Airport.

Wow.

Anyhow, I'm packed and ready for my trip to Victoria, B.C. this weekend for Con-Fusion. Koshka is no doubt going to be really ticked when I take off tomorrow and am not back before Sunday, but oh well...

I'm just glad the trip is in the car and the ferry rather than yet another plane flight. The ferry is actually rather cool, and since I have the day off tomorrow I can actually enjoy the view since it will be during the mid-afternoon.


* = I checked just now online and the ideal conversion would have been 26,000 KSW = ~28 CAD, so the conversion cost me a couple of US dollars. No biggie, I left more than that in Goodwill donations in the Inchon airport....
